Melbourne’s Moonlover has returned with more delightfully compelling visuals for his fresh slow groove pop number ‘Wedding Day’ that are sure to get you swooning this August morning.
Produced and animated completely by Moonlover himself – who you may also know as multi-instrumentalist Quang Dinh, formerly the bassist of beloved band Little Red – the beautiful clip is the fifth video taken from Moonlover’s debut Thou Shall Be Free and were inspired by the work of German film maker Charlotte “Lotte” Reiniger, the pioneer of silhouette animation.
“After making ‘The Ooiee’ film clip and handling the animation of the ‘Queen of Sheba’ clip, I set out to make a fully animated clip for ‘Wedding Day’,” says Dinh. “I figured DIY or die. I was inspired by the work of Lotte Reiniger, who pioneered silhouette animation. I drew some stuff, cut shapes out of cards, scanned a few things and then manipulated it and animated it.”
Moonlover will be taking his swoon-worthy surreal pop to the stage this month, with five solo shows in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Hobart. Catch those dates below, after first getting lost in the beautiful world of ‘Wedding Day’.
