China’s biggest EDM festival, Storm, was expected to announce its debut Australian lineup earlier this month, but the event has now been shelved.

In a statement, Storm Festival organisers say bad weather is the reason why the festival will not be making its scheduled debut in Sydney this December, and will be rescheduled for a later time.

“As many fans of Storm Festival are aware there were adverse weather conditions at Storm Music Festival Shanghai and this impacted our Australian production and operations,” the statement reads.

“Our team has made the difficult decision to reschedule Storm Music Festival Australia so that we can deliver the true Storm experience for our fans.

“We apologise for the delay in communicating this to you. We’ve been working around the clock to make the original event date work, but it is just not possible. An announcement on a rescheduled date will be made soon.”

Anyone who purchased ‘Early Bird’ tickets to Storm Australia — which was set to take place at Parramatta Park on 9th December — will be offered free upgrades to VIP tickets for the rescheduled event, or can request a refund by emailing help@eventopia.co before 8th December.

“Refund requests will be processed within 14 business days,” say organisers. “Refunds will be processed to the original credit card used to purchase tickets.”

Today’s announcement comes after Storm had already announced a number of acts for its debut Australian event, including the likes of Ephwurd, Ghastly and Kill Frenzy.

Storm announced its Australian plans in May this year, revealing details of the event’s first festival outside of mainland China.
