«De mon amie,
Fleur endormie,
Au fond du lac silencieux,
J’ai vu dans l’onde
Claire et profonde
Etinceler le front joyeux
Et les doux yeux,
Et les doux yeux!
Ma bien aimee
Est enfermee,
Dans un palais d’or et d’azur!
Je l’entends rire
Et je vois luire,
Sur le cristal du gouffre obscur.
Son regard pur,
Son regard pur!»

Althought the audio is not the best, her performace is amazing.
@silvereagle23
I had it on a casette, from long time ago.
She is wonderful in "L'hôtesse arabe" as well from the same recital.
They were one after the other without interruption.
Same key…
What a glorious voice. I have seen her long ago on stage together with the British soprano Jill Gomez in the Netherlands. The British mezzo Carolyn Watkinson was already based in Holland and I believe she still is(incl. teaching). Her voice is strong and never screaming, which reminds me a lot of the late Irish alto/mezzo soprano Bernadette Greevy. Mezzo's always deserve more credit than they receive and Carolyn Watkinson is no exception. This is simply excellent.
Beautiful, serene voice, why wasn't she more famous than she deserved. Thanks to jcriedijk for bringing these glorious voices to our attention.
@kwetsbaar1 i begin to believe that not always the "value"is famous.
I thank you too, jcriedijk
I was happy to discover her on an LP
