A security guard has died after suffering a medical episode at Good Things Festival in Sydney on Saturday afternoon, police have confirmed.

The 45-year-old male suffered a suspected heart attack and collapsed during Sydney band Tonight Alive’s performance in Parramatta Park around 5:45pm, before police and security teams divided the crowd to allow paramedics to treat the man at the scene.

The guard was taken to Westmead Hospital in an ambulance, and Tonight Alive’s set was cut short.

NSW Police has confirmed to Music Feeds that the man has died, and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.

In a statement, Good Things Festival organisers said:

“In Sydney yesterday we lost one of our incredible and much loved security advisors.

“Our extended festival family have worked with him for over 20 years and we are all saddened and shocked by his passing. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends and to our Festival family who knew him and worked with him for so long.

“He lived his life looking after the care and well being of fans as he was doing yesterday and will be always remembered for that. We would like to thank the countless paramedics, doctors and police for their efforts on site yesterday and the fans yesterday for their care and understanding.”

Good Things Festival made its debut in Melbourne on Friday, and will continue in Brisbane on Sunday.
