SCORDATURA!!!!!!! FTW
Better hope you don't have perfect pitch — or else, it really screws with you.
3:16 Violin Entrance
He sold his soul to the devil.
For those who may be surprised by the Eb major key Paganini wrote the solo violin part in D major (but tuning it half a step higher, called "scordatura" to avoid technical difficulties with that key) while the orchestra parts were written in Eb . The result is a brighter orchestral sound. This recording is thus the original pitch intended by Paganini. Now-a-days the orchestra part has been rewritten in D major and the solo violin part is tuned in a conventional manner.
Anyone knows who the soloist is?
