Elizabeth Walker, flute. Richard Shaw, piano perform a new arrangement of Richard Strauss’s Lieder – Das Rosenband (The Garland of Roses). Filmed by Joseph Bicknell, recorded by Russell Stokes at CLSG Main Hall in February 2014.
Translation – «I found her in the shade one spring and bound her with a garland of roses. She felt nothing, but slept on. I gazed at her and from that moment my life was caught in hers. I felt this, but did not understand it. I whispered to her without words and rustled the garland of roses. She awoke. She gazed at me and from that moment we were in Paradise.»
