Cannibal Corpse have broken their silence, one week on from the bizarre arrest of their guitarist Pat O’Brien on a raft of assault & burglary offences.

On December 10th, the metaller allegedly entered a neighbour’s house without permission, ignored orders from the occupants to leave, and then pushed a woman down inside the residence before making his way into the backyard.

Police reportedly found O’Brien hiding behind a fence near the house, before he allegedly charged at them with a knife. Officers then had to use a taser to subdue him.

The bizarre sequence of events also involved O’Brien phoning his parents to warn them of the ‘rapture’, and claiming that aliens had landed.

Around the same time as all this went down, the axeman’s house also went up in flames due to an ammo explosion, with police obtaining a search warrant to discover 50 shotguns, two flamethrowers & a f*ck-tonne more weapons inside.

Now, O’Brien’s bandmates have issued an official statement about the whole shamozzle, saying they want “nothing but the best for their brother & partner”.

It reads:

As a band and as individuals, we all want nothing but the best for our brother and partner, Pat. While we can offer no further information about the incident, we wanted everyone to know that Pat is getting the help he needs and appreciates the love and support from Cannibal Corpse fans around the world.

Pat is currently with family and friends and looks forward to a healthy return at some point. For anyone wondering, all Cannibal Corpse touring will happen as planned and all shows will be played.

The band recently announced that they’ll be supporting Slayer on the North American leg of their farewell tour in May.

O’Brien was released on his bail of $50,000 last Friday, and is not facing any charges related to the blaze in his house. A crowdfunding campaign launched to help with his recovery has since been taken down.

The guitarist was last in Australia with Cannibal Corpse back in 2014.
