100 Gecs Have Cancelled Their Australian Tour Due To Coronavirus

Experimental pop duo 100 gecs were set to make their way to Australia for their debut shows down under in June as part of their world tour, catapulting off the massive success of last year’s 1000 gecs and its forthcoming remix album, The Tree of Clues.

Now, due to the ongoing COVID-19 global health crisis, the shows are unable to go ahead.

“It is with great disappointment that we announce that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 100 gecs have had to cancel their Australian tour dates,” tour promoters Astral People confirmed earlier today.

“Tickets will be automatically refunded in 3-5 business days. We’re as bummed as you are, but we can’t wait to for 100 gecs to make their Australian debut at a later date.”

The band’s scheduled US and European dates, which included slots as part Coachella, have been postponed.

While it’s a total bummer, there is some exciting news – it seems like remix album Tree of Clues is still coming along as per normal. There’s no confirmed release date yet, but the anticipated release sees new takes of 1000 gecs tracks by fellow artists and friends. We heard reworks from A.G. Cook and Injury Reserve last year, along with a remix of album highlight ‘ringtone’ featuring Charli XCX, Rico Nasty and Kero Kero Bonito earlier this year.

Hopefully the pair can make their way back to Australia sometime in the not too distant future.
