The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne recently sat down with NME and gave an interview which only he could truly give.
The conversation went from David Bowie to Post Malone to Mac Demarco, and then took a turn to the Lips’ previous decisions regarding what they can turn into a vinyl record. They’ve previously released vinyl which contained their own brew of beer and another which contained human blood from people like Chris Martin and Kesha.
But now they’re planning to really up the ante, and it involves Miley Cyrus.
When asked where he thinks he could take the format next, Coyne did admit that it’s hard to ‘top’ what they’ve already done.
“You can’t really up the ante too much from human blood, but maybe when the beer is your own beer – the beer was made especially for the Flaming Lips and has our influence in its taste and colour,” he said.
“That’s not as insane as having a little bit of Erykah Badu, and Chris Martin’s blood in your records. Probably not as insane as that, but still pretty great.”
This is correct, and one would think they’d stop there. But no.
“The next record we were talking about releasing was the Miley Cyrus and the Dead Petz record. We’d get a good amount of Miley’s pee and mix it with some glitter and put that in. I think that would up the ante. Don’t you?”
