It’s been an unusually long wait for a new Rihanna record, but the pop legend has reportedly finally finished recording her highly anticipated ninth studio album.
As reported by Us Weekly, multiple sources have confirmed that the Barbadian artist has recently wrapped up the yet-to-be-titled follow up to 2016’s ANTI.
RiRi has been teasing her fans about new music for over a year now, with her posting sneaky pictures of herself in the studio or videos of her listening to her new music but muting the sound. It’s bloody cruel.
In an earlier interview with Rolling Stone, a producer said that around 500 songs were being considered for the album.
“[Rihanna’s team] have, no lie, 500 records for this project [from] different producers and writers,” the producer told the magazine. “They’re only choosing 10 records. They’ve been having writing camps and trying to keep them quiet for almost a year and a half now. I’ve been flying to Miami, flying to L.A., cutting records nonstop for this project.”
What’s even more cruel is the fact that Rihanna hasn’t toured Australia since 2013. To be fair, she’s been very busy. Besides her cosmetics empire, she’s been working on her acting chops by featuring in the critically acclaimed Ocean’s 8 as well as an upcoming role in Donald Glover’s new film Guava Island.
In the meantime…
