Karnivool frontman Ian Kenny has revealed the band are seriously considering a 10th anniversary tour for their 2009 album Sound Awake, after hosting a 10th anniversary tour for their debut album Themata back in 2015.

Speaking with Wall Of Sound, Kenny said the band have “thought about” a new Sound Awake tour, but haven’t locked anything in just yet.

“[The Themata anniversary tour] was such an enjoyable tour for both us and the fans. There was something quite special about that,” he said.

“It was one of those moments where we get to realise what an impact and how important some of the records we make are to the people who love the music we make… So yes, off that back of that comment, I say we might do it, yes, we might.”

Back in October, Karnivool announced a trio of headline shows in Dunsborough, Perth and Adelaide, in the lead up to their performance at Victoria’s UNIFY Gathering festival in January.

However, Kenny told Wall Of Sound he thinks the band will also tour the east coast at some point in 2019.

“It will be a great opportunity to road test some more new stuff when we get the opportunity… and then even something like the Sound Awake Anniversary Tour, that sort of fits the 2009 theme,” he said.

“So the way the band’s talking, after UNIFY [Gathering] yeah, I can see something coming up.”

Karnivool are currently working on their fourth studio album, the follow-up to 2013’s Asymmetry.

If you cast your mind back, you’ll remember that Sound Awake contains some of the band’s biggest tracks, including ‘Set Fire To The Hive’, ‘All I Know’, ‘New Day’ and ‘Goliath’.
