The enigmatic Father John Misty, Aka Josh Tillman, announced his third studio album Pure Comedy via a 1900 word essay last month, and now he’s shared another new track from the forthcoming release.
The latest song is titled Leaving LA and Tillman performed an acoustic version of the 13-minute epic during an appearance on BBC Radio 6.
Whilst on the show Tillman revealed that he had spent ” a good three years” writing the song, while its lyrics address typical Father John Misty topics like “LA phonies” and “Pitchfork bands” while he also references “another white guy in 2017 who takes himself terribly seriously.”
“That’s the whitest, most acoustic thing you’ve ever seen,” he declared after finishing the performance.
Father John Misty had already revealed the title track from Pure Comedy, a politically driven song from the record which is due to be released April 7th.
