Get your emotions at the ready, because after four long years the sweet sound of City and Colour, aka Dallas Green, is back with an epic new track, titled ‘Astronaut’. Boy have we missed this voice.
The sweet and sprawling six-minute jam was produced by three-time Grammy-winning Jacquire King and is our first taste of City And Colour’s forthcoming 6th studio album to be released later this year on Green’s own label Still Records, an imprint of Dine Alone Records.
“I always think of the relationships in my life that have been fractured because I ended up doing what I do for a living,” says Green about. “I’m always gone, wandering around and singing songs. However, it weighs on my family and friends. I’m asking for ‘one more year’. I left home at 21 to go play my guitar. It’s lonely, but it’s because I yearn to wander. I’m aware of how lucky I am.”
Dallas Green has also been busy with his other project Alexisonfire, the post hardcore outfit having broken their nine-year release drought this year with new singles ‘Familiar Drugs’ and ‘Complicit’. While we’re yet to know whether the new singles are evidence of a forthcoming album, guitarist and vocalist Wade MacNeil told Music Feeds earlier this year the new Alexisonfire music is “some of the heaviest stuff we’ve ever made”.
