Australia has placed ninth in Eurovision 2017, with Portugal taking out this year’s songwriting contest in Kiev, Ukraine after dominating the competition.
Fifth place was taken out by Sweden, four place was claimed by Belgium and third place was claimed by Moldova, while second place was claimed by Bulgaria.
Represented by 17-year-old singer Isaiah Firebrace performing Australia’s Eurovision song ‘Don’t Come East’, the land down under didn’t quite meet last year’s result — which saw Dami Im take out second place — but local Eurovision fans are no doubt proud of Firebrace’s effort in the Grand Final.
There were actually two Australians performing in the Eurovision Grand Final this year, with Sydney-born 21-year-old Anja Nissen representing Denmark, which took out 20th place.
