Slipknot will enter the studio in January to record the follow-up to their 2014 album .5: The Gray Chapter, frontman Corey Taylor has confirmed.

Responding to a fan on Twitter yesterday, Taylor left maggots super-excited after revealing the band are almost ready to jump in the studio.

“Recording in Jan. Album out middle of 2019,” he said.

Taylor had previously said the band would enter the studio “early next year”, before developing a new live show, new masks and new outfits so that they’re able to start touring in the middle of 2019, “when the album comes out”.

The singer’s January confirmation comes after Slipknot returned with ‘All Out Life’ earlier this month — the group’s first new song in four years, and the first taste of their next album.

Back in October, Taylor described Slipknot’s next album as their “most experimental” and “ambitious” yet, adding that it will contain one of the heaviest tracks the band has ever written.

Earlier this month, Slipknot announced a 10 year anniversary reissue of their 2008 album All Hope Is Gone, which will be released in December.

The group last toured Australia in 2016 with Lamb Of God, marking their first Aussie headline tour since 2009.
