CONTENT WARNING: The following article discusses allegations of rape and sexual assault.

The latest news in the ongoing legal dispute between Alice Glass and former Crystal Castles bandmate Ethan Kath sees Glass awarded almost $21,000 USD in attorney fees and costs ($20,882.69 USD to be exact).

This whole dispute began when Kath (real name Claudio Palmieri) filed a defamation lawsuit after Glass (real name Margaret Osborn) accused him, back in October 2017, of “a decade of abuse, manipulation and psychological control” at his hands since she was just 15 years old up until she left the band in 2014.

In response to the lawsuit, Glass’ lawyers moved to dismiss the claim, saying that the lawsuit was an attempt to curb “constitutional rights of freedom of speech and petition for the redress of grievances.”

Kath is adamant in his denying of these claims, despite it being revealed late last year that he was under investigation in Toronto for alleged sex crimes committed by him against multiple women.

The judge ruled in favour of Glass back in February, who found that Kath was unable to provide “any admissable evidence” opposing the motion, and dismissed the lawsuit entirely. Kath then changed lawyers in an effort to file a motion arguing the dismissal on the grounds that it “was entirely the result of mistakes, inadvertence, neglect, and misconduct.” The judge denied this earlier this week.

In a statement to Pitchfork, Kath’s lawyer said that “Ethan Kath vehemently denies the allegations of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse leveled at him by Alice Glass, which he contends were made both maliciously and for the purpose of publicity.”

Glass’ lawyer also released a statement to Pitchfork, simply saying “the case is over.”
